(N0) Soup for you. Thursday 19/2/26

 Thursday 19/2/26

After a huge day yesterday, we were going to have an easier day today. But we both had a sleepless night and and were amazed when we woke up at 11.15am.

A quick replan and we decided we would have soup for breakfast at the famous Soup Nazi soup  shop from Seinfeld.  And not far at all.

On the way to soup, we found Stephen Colbert's studio. There are usually crowds at night of people trying to catch a glimpse of Mr Colbert.

And there it was. The Soup Kitchen.  No huge queue as we were there early around 12. Much more congested later on our way back.

And an even bigger surprise was that there were 3 gluten free soups out of 9,  a third.  I am amazed at the soup nazi. What a nice guy. On the other hand, probably got sick of people in the queue asking for gluten free soup causing delay and disruption but I am still impressed.

Paul had clam chowder while  I had butternut squash. Both were really good. But only one of us got the bread and all important spoon with it and we both got small when Paul had ordered large. We decided however not to go back and complain.  Not sure how nice they might be....
A nice man directed us to a nearby park where we could eat/drink our soup/breakfast.

After a relaxing afternoon for me and a visit back to the 9/11 memorial museum for Paul, it was time for our evening meal and show. (as you do on Broadway in New York).

We were seeing Aladdin at the New Amsterdam theatre a couple of blocks away. It was not easy to find a restaurant on 42nd street and we wandered around for a while before finding John's Italian restaurant. It was huge and packed and had gluten free pizza and pasta. Hallelulia.

not gluten free

gluten free pizza with my selected toppings. not bad

On the way to the New Amsterdam we were accosted (almost kidnapped) by Mickey Mouse and Elmo which was confusing and confronting. They made us have a photo with them. And of course, the obligatory tip.

The New Amsterdam is another beautiful theatre in the style of the Civic but huge and with lifts to the Mezzanine floor thank goodness.

Aladdin was fantastic, great music and singing and the most amazing set. There was a flying magic carpet that looked so real and absolutely beautiful. We weren't allowed to take photos during the show.

After the show, we left via a different exit leaving me totally confused re directions. Fortunately, Paul got it right and we eventually went the right way to the hotel.  (Sooooo @##$ simple)

Another huge day for an easier day. But it is all go go go in New York, New York.  More tomorrow, our last day sadly.
